She (1965)
“She” (1965) is an adventure film directed by Robert Day, based on H. Rider Haggard’s novel. The story follows three men—Professor Holly, Leo Vincey, and their orderly Job—who embark on an expedition to a mysterious, lost city in central-east Africa. They are guided by a map given to Leo by a mysterious woman who believes him to be the reincarnation of her ancient lover.
Upon reaching the lost city of Kuma, they encounter Ayesha, also known as “She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed,” an immortal queen who rules the city. Ayesha believes Leo is the reincarnation of her former lover and offers him immortality. The film explores themes of love, power, and immortality, set against the backdrop of a mystical and ancient civilization. The journey is filled with danger, intrigue, and the allure of eternal life.
