Tales of Terror (1962)
"Tales of Terror" is an anthology film that consists of three segments, each based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe. The segments are:
- Morella: A man blames his daughter for the death of his wife during childbirth. He is haunted by the corpse of his wife, who seeks revenge on him and his daughter.
- The Black Cat: A drunkard hates his wife and her black cat. He competes with a wine expert, who seduces his wife. He kills them both and - walls them up in his basement, but the cat’s meow gives him away.
- The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar: A dying man agrees to be hypnotized at the moment of his death. A hypnotist keeps him in a state of suspended animation and tries to blackmail his widow. The man’s body decomposes rapidly when the hypnotist is killed.
Three tales of terror involve a grieving widower and the daughter he abandoned; a drunkard and his wife's black cat; and a hypnotist who prolongs the moment of a man's death.
